As a company who profits from communities of people who use drugs, and as members of these communities ourselves, we believe that we have a responsibility to give back to them. We are proud of both our organisational partnerships and the donations we make to valuable causes, but we want to do more.
Peer-led programmes are the key to providing support to isolated and hidden communities like people who use drugs, which is why HUP is dedicated to supporting grassroots care and activism. Below are just some of the ways that we want to support you in protecting yourself and the people you care about:
HUP offers free testkits to individuals or groups who wish to run harm-reduction interventions in nightlife or festival spaces. Drugs are present throughout nightlife, from local bars to warehouse raves, so it’s our view testkits should be just as ubiquitous.
If you’re involved in an organisation that provides support for people who use drugs, whether you’re a frontline worker or a policy activist, we want to support you. We would be delighted to provide testkits as needed to harm reduction and care organisations of any stripe.
The freedom afforded by online spaces can be a lifeline for people who use drugs, and are often the only community available to them. We have already run successful giveaways to promote harm reduction practices in various communities on Reddit.com with more to come – if you’re involved with an online platform for people who use drugs, and you think they could benefit from our kits, get in touch with us and we can try to organise something for your community.
These are what we’ve got up and running so far, but if you need our support in a way that isn’t listed then please feel free to get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org, because we’re always open to new ideas.
